From cartography, with traditional city and street maps (the fold-up kind), to 2D web mapping, the growth in this area has been very high in the past decade or so.

Dating back to the mid 1990’s, 2D web maps are really the norm today. But in the past 5 years, the GeoWeb and virtual globes are presenting a new way to explore our world and map our communities... in 3D.
